Step Out, Step Up

After being told that he’d never amount to anything Mark became a champion Tae Kwon Do athlete on the inaugural team that got the sport officially recognized by the military, was assigned to the 82nd Airborne, was named “Soldier of the Year” for his battalion, became an officer, served as an Inspector General in Afghanistan, and earned a law degree. Green’s purpose in revealing the many challenges he faced as a young person as well as those he’s encountered during his 34-year career in the U.S. Army is to inspire others. In the second half of the Step Out, Step Up: Lessons from a Lifetime of Transitions and Military Service, Green weaves more of his stories in with his 7 Steps to Resilience, drawn for his personal and professional experiences and designed to help veterans, military service members and their families with transition, overcoming their own obstacles and building positive and resilient lives.
